The Misconception of Microdosing

The Misconception of Microdosing

Would you like some magic mushrooms with your morning coffee? Or what about a little bit of psilocybin with your daily intake of vitamins?

This might sound like the morning routine of a new-age hippie who enjoys naked bike rides and reuses their burrito wrapper as a resume—but the truth is that countless individuals like you and me are embracing the magic—or should we say the science—of microdosing magic mushrooms (psilocybin).

Everyday white-collar workers, blue-collar workers, college students, moms, dads—and yes, the new age hippies—are discovering the benefits of incorporating microdosing into their daily routines. Whether they’re microdosing psilocybin for depression, microdosing for anxiety, microdosing for more energy, or doing it just to improve their quality of life, microdosing isn’t and shouldn’t be a taboo subject.

For decades there has been a social stigma surrounding psychedelics due to the presence of misinformation—but we’re here to educate the world on those misconceptions. Let’s talk about the misconceptions behind microdosing—so that you can begin to realize the amazing benefits of microdosing.

So, what is the Misconception?

There are a few different myths floating around about the use of psychedelics. But we’re here to debunk them.

For years, Psilocybin and other forms of psychedelics have been associated with being a party drug. Mainstream media and other societal sources have long portrayed psychedelics as a drug for partying and “hippies”. But many scientists and other medical professionals would disagree with that. In fact, psychedelics are anything but a party drug.

Psychedelics, specifically psilocybin, have been found to have groundbreaking benefits. Scientists studied the effects of psilocybin on patients with life threatening cancer, and the magic mushrooms gave the patients considerable long-lasting relief of anxiety and depression.

New studies have also found that psychedelics such as psilocybin, LSD, or DMT, can be used to treat substance abuse. Even more recently, more studies have been done on the use of psilocybin to treat depression on everyday patients and the findings have been very positive.

So, no psychedelics aren’t a party drug. In fact, they’re a powerful medicinal tool, that if used correctly, can greatly improve lives.

Another misconception surrounding psychedelics is that they will always make you “trip”. Of course, if you consume 2 grams of magic mushrooms, you’re likely to experience hallucinations. But there is a trend of psychedelic consumption that won’t lead to a trip—and that’s microdosing. Microdosing involves taking a tiny enough portion of psychedelics such as magic mushrooms. This will not result in a trip. In fact, many workers in Silicon Valley claim that microdosing has greatly benefited their productivity—and there’s not trip!

One last misconception about psychedelics is that they’re addictive—like other illegal drugs. But there is no evidence that psychedelics are addictive. In fact, as mentioned earlier, they can be used to combat substance addiction.

The Magic of Microdosing

Clearly psychedelics have amazing benefits. But that doesn’t mean we’re suggesting you drop a tab of acid before you walk into your 9-5. The real benefits of psychedelics lie in microdosing.

Microdosing magic mushrooms is becoming a trend for a reason. And that’s because it works!

Magic mushrooms are in the name, but the truth is it’s not magic—it’s science.

Microdosing has been found to benefit those with anxiety or depression, as well as increase focus. A small dose of psilocybin can help increase clarity of thought, vision, and possibly memory.

As mentioned earlier, scientific evidence shows that microdosing magic mushrooms for depression and other psychological disorders is gaining steam in the medical community. Microdosing can be used as a tried-and-true therapy for substance abuse, alcoholism, and a host of psychological disorders like ADHD, PTSD, anxiety, eating disorders, and depression.

Microdosing involves consuming a small fraction of the amount of psilocybin that would normally result in a trip. So, with microdosing you get all of the great benefits of psychedelics, without the trip.

Microdosing also works on a schedule—this way your body and brain can get the full effect. We recommend once every three days. You can also take it on an as-need basis, but this could lead to a buildup in tolerance, so it’s not recommended.

Take your microdose of magic mushrooms in the morning and your to-do list will be completed with ease and grace. Oh—and you’ll feel better all day too!

Making the decision to begin microdosing can be a tough decision if you don’t have all of the knowledge, but we hope we were able to clear up any of those nasty misconceptions for you!

I've been microdosing for about 8 months & love the results… lots of life circumstances have come up & I've maintained an even disposition - which was not my "usual". Will absolutely continue using!!!

I use to think a microdose was what made me feel the effects of psilocybin without the visuals until I read this post and the dosage guide!

Angelica M says April 6, 2025, 3:43 pm

Interesting how there's still such a stigma surrounding this topic.

Suffered for almost 30 years with "treatment resistant" depression - pharmaceutical medications did little to help most of the time, nor did therapy. Even tried electro-shock in my desperation. Finally decided to try micro-dosing (legality be damned). The first day I took a dose, I startled myself by laughing out loud at a joke on TV - startled because it'd been so long since laughter came so easily. One microdose in an hour did more for me than most pills did in years. This has been a life-changer for me.

I love psychedelics, they have done wonders for my mental health. But Im on the fence about microdosing. I microdosed for awhile and i didnt really notice a difference. However, Ive had amazing breakthroughs and positive effects with higher doses. Of course, thats anecdotal so take it however you wish.
